EV Rebate Bonuses:
Purchase a used all-electric vehicle and install a level 2 charger at the same time and you may qualify for up to $2,300 in cash rebates.

• $1,000 (used battery electric vehicle BEV rebate) + $800 (charger rebate) + $500 bonus = $2,300

Income-Qualified Rebate Bonuses:
Purchase a used all-electric electric vehicle; or a used all-electric vehicle and install a level 2 charger at the same time; and you may qualify for up to $3,300 in cash rebates. Must meet income requirements.

• $1,500 (used BEV rebate) + $500 bonus = $2,000
• $1,500 (used BEV rebate) + $800 (charger rebate) + $1,000 bonus = $3,300

Commercial Rebate Bonuses:
Install a commercial level 2 charger or purchase an electric forklift and you may qualify for up to $6,000 in cash rebates.

• $5,000 (commercial charger rebate) + $1,000 bonus = $6,000
• $2,000 (commercial forklift rebate) + $1,000 bonus = $3,000

1. Rebate program is effective December 1, 2020.
2. Used BEVs and residential level 2 chargers must be purchased within two (2) months of each other to qualify for the residential standard bonus rebate.
3. Residential level 2 chargers or used BEVs purchased before the program effective date must have been purchased by July 1, 2020 to be eligible for a bonus rebate.
4. Customers must first submit separate rebate applications for each applicable purchase through AMP's website (used BEV rebate, residential level 2 charger rebate, commercial level 2 charger rebate, electric forklift rebate).
5. ALL rebate applications must be approved by June 30, 2021.
Eligibility
All AMP residential customers are eligible for the standard used BEV rebate. To qualify for the income-qualified rebate, you must be enrolled in AMP’s Energy Assistance Program (EAP), which gives you an automatic 25% discount on your monthly AMP bills. Click here to learn more and enroll in EAP.

AMP: Used All-Electric Vehicle Rebate (Residential)

Buy a used (pre-owned) battery electric vehicle (BEV) and you may be eligible for a cash rebate of up to $1,500. This rebate only applies to used all-electric vehicles with a purchase price below $22,000.

AMP Residential EV Charger Rebate up to $800

AMP Residential EV Charger Rebate up to $800  logo

Purchase and install a level 2 (240V) electric vehicle charger at home and receive a rebate reward card worth up to $800.

AMP is offering this cash rebate to encourage residential customers to take advantage of AMP’s 100% clean energy by charging their EVs at a home charger in Alameda.

Level 2 chargers, known as electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), provide charging through a 240V AC plug. Level 2 charging provides about 10 to 60 miles of range to an electric vehicle’s battery per hour of charging time, making it quicker and more convenient than standard 120V AC charging, which provides only about 2 to 5 miles per hour of charging.

This rebate can be used for the purchase, installation and/or permitting of a new, permanently installed level 2 home charger.

Incentive Information

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Buy a new level 2 EV home charger.

  2. Install with the help of a contractor or licensed electrician, as needed.

  3. Complete and sign the application.

  4. Submit images of the following, as applicable:

    • Installed EV charger and charger serial number

    • Receipt or paid invoice from the charger purchase

    • Receipt or paid invoice(s) from installer and/or electrician, as relevant, showing the itemized and subtotaled cost of the charger installation and/or electrical upgrade (electrician’s invoice must include the electrician’s license number)

    • Final, signed building permit



  5. Please allow 8-12 weeks for rebate checks to be delivered.

  • Application must be fully completed

  • The rebate is available only to current AMP residential (D1) customers.

  • Limit one rebate per charging station; limit two charging station rebates per customer.

  • A charger with multiple ports, or plugs, is considered one unit and is eligible for a single rebate.

  • Receipts and invoices must be dated within 3 months of application.

  • Rebate can be used toward any combination of the following: the cost of the charging station; the charging station installation, any necessary electrical upgrades; and the city permit.

  • Qualifying level 2 (240-volt) charging stations:

    • Must be new, and not used, resold or rebuilt.

    • Must be wall or pedestal-mounted, and not portable.

    • Must be certified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL Listed); or ETL Listed

    • Must not be received from warranty insurance claims.



  • Eligible electrical upgrades:

    • Must be permitted.

    • Must be performed by an electrician with a valid C-10 license.

    • May include a new 240-volt outlet, a new 240-volt circuit, and/or a new or upgraded panel.




Permitting

  • Installing a level 2 charger requires an over-the-counter permit from the city of Alameda.

  • Residents or installers can apply at the permit center Monday - Thursday, 7:30am - 3:00pm. Click here for details.

  • AMP is not verifying permit information as part of this rebate application.

  • Customer agrees that all credits allowed by the State of California's low carbon fuel standard credits program are the property of and belong to AMP. Customer agrees not to take any actions to generate such credits to their account. Customer further agrees to assign any such credits to AMP.

  • Alameda Municipal Power disclaims any and all liability, loss, or damage that may arise as a result of the applicant's participation in this program.

AMP Commercial Electric Forklift Rebate: Get Up to $6,000

AMP Commercial Electric Forklift Rebate: Get Up to $6,000 logo

Buy a new class-1 or class-2 electric forklift, and you may be eligible for a cash rebate of $2,000 per forklift, up to a maximum of three forklifts per metered site. This rebate is available to A1, A2, A3, M1 and M3 customers.

For additional funding, customers may also choose to participate in one or both of the following state programs:

1. Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s Off-Road Vehicles program
2. California Air Resources Board’s Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) Voucher Incentive Project

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Purchase one or more new electric forklifts.

  2. Complete the online application.

  3. Submit images of the following documents for verification:

    • W-9 Form for company requesting rebate

    • Paid invoice indicating the cost of the electric forklift(s) and the purchase date

    • Electric forklift technical specifications, including the manufacturer, model number, serial number, model year, Class 1 or 2, motor size, and lifting capacity

    • Photograph(s) of the electric forklift(s)



  4. Please allow 8-12 weeks for rebate checks to be delivered.

  • Effective date of this program is April 1, 2020. Only electric forklift(s) purchased on or after this date are eligible.

  • The rebate amount cannot exceed pre-tax purchase price.

  • Customer must be an active AMP commercial customer who is in good standing, and the electric forklift(s) under this rebate application must be operated for a minimum of three years at a commercial address with an active account.

  • Rebate is available for the purchase of the following eligible forklift categories:

    • Class 1 (counterbalance) forklift: 36 V, 48 V or 80 V; 3,000 – 12000 pounds lift capacity

    • Class 2 (narrow aisle) forklift: 24 V, 36 V, or 48 V; 3,000 – 5,500 pounds lift capacity



  • Up to three electric forklift(s) per metered site are eligible for a rebate.

  • A complete rebate application package must be uploaded or postmarked within 90 days of the electric forklift(s) purchase date. Applications are not considered to be received until all required documentation is complete and received at AMP’s offices. Failure to provide all of the required documentation by this date may result in rebate ineligibility.

  • Customer agrees that AMP reserves the right to request additional documentation prior to rebate payment. AMP may deny the rebate payment if this condition is not met by the customer.

  • The customer rebate payment shall go directly to, and in the name of, the customer/business name/account holder named on the AMP bill.

  • The rebate payment will be mailed from AMP within 8 to 12 weeks of AMP receiving all required documentation.

  • Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and rebate is subject to availability of funds. AMP’s processing of this application may be placed on hold or automatically rejected if applicable program funds have been exhausted.

  • AMP expressly reserves the right to modify or terminate the program, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason without prior notice.

  • AMP disclaims any and all liability, loss, or damage that may arise as a result of the applicant's participation in this program.

  • Customer agrees that AMP reserves the right to inspect premises for 36 months after the date of application or request additional documentation prior to rebate payment. Rebate amount to be prorated by AMP if customer leaves the territory within 3 years.

  • Customer shall cooperate with AMP or its authorized representative in performing evaluation, measurement, and verification (EM&V) of the program. Information accessed for EM&V may include, but is not limited to: functioning hour meter displays, onsite verification of installation and operation, program compliance, battery charging equipment and observation of battery charging-related facility operations, and project records. All information collected will be held confidentially and will be used by AMP or its authorized representative for program analysis purposes only. Customer shall ensure that AMP or its authorized agents have access to the company’s facility at reasonable times, for a period of up to five (5) years from the date of the company’s receipt of rebate payment under this agreement.

  • Disclaimer of warranties: AMP makes no representations, expressed or implied, regarding the design, construction, reliability, efficiency, performance, operation, maintenance, or use of any equipment, or installation discussed, selected, rejected, purchased, or otherwise considered by the customer. Any decisions regarding the selection, design, purchase, installation, use and operation of any equipment or consideration or selection of any contractor shall be the sole responsibility of the customer.

  • These terms and conditions apply for all rebate application packages submitted/postmarked on or after May 1, 2020. If the customer fails to comply with any of these terms and conditions, as determined by AMP, the customer agrees to repay the rebate in an amount determined by AMP within 30 days of written notice by AMP.

AMP Commercial EV Charger Rebate: Get Up to $33,000

AMP Commercial EV Charger Rebate: Get Up to $33,000 logo

Purchase and install a maximum of six (6) level-2 EV charging stations at your non-residential service address to become eligible for cash rebates.

AMP’s commercial EV charger rebate consists of $5,000 for each level 2 charging station and $500 per additional port.

The $5,000 rebate for each level 2 charging station (up to 6) can be used toward the cost of the charging station(s), the cost of installation (including any necessary electrical upgrades) and the cost of a city permit.

The additional $500 per additional port (up to 6) can be used toward the cost of another port or additional chargers.

Eligible customers include commercial and non-profit organizations, schools, churches, multi-family building owners, government entities and all other AMP customers in the A1, A2, A3, M1 or M3 rate category.

  1. Consult the city of Alameda’s Non-Residential EV Permitting Checklist and the California EV guidebook for permitting requirements and best practice suggestions

  2. Submit a completed EV charger information form to AMP for approval*

  3. Submit a completed permit application to the city of Alameda permit center**

    • The cost of a city permit (obtained through the city of Alameda permit center).



  • The level 2 charging stations must be installed at the customer's service address.

  • Customer is solely responsible for installation of all rebated products to the manufacturer’s specifications.

  • AMP reserves the right to reject any application that is incomplete or fails to meet the program requirements.

  • Customer agrees that AMP reserves the right to inspect the installation premises of the charging stations for 24 months after the date of application or request additional documentation prior to rebate payment. The rebate may be revoked by AMP if this condition is not met by the customer.

AMP Residential EV Bill Discount

The Public Utilities Board (PUB) has approved an end date of June 30, 2021 for AMP’s monthly electric vehicle (EV) discount. The discount program is being phased out as part of the transition to the EV time-of-use rate. The program will be discontinued, so it will no longer be an option, even for those who choose not to participate in TOU.

EV Discount Details

Buy an eligible battery electric vehicle (BEV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and receive $9 to $21 dollars off your monthly bill. To qualify for the EV bill discount, your BEV or PHEV must be operating, registered and street-legal, and have a gross weight between 750 and 8,000 pounds.

  1. Purchase a BEV or PHEV and register it at your AMP customer service address.

  2. Fill out an online or paper application and return it to AMP for processing.

  3. Upload a copy of your current EV registration.

  4. You can expect your discount to take effect within 8 weeks of submitting the completed application.

  • This experimental supplemental schedule is applicable to customers operating registered, street-legal electric vehicles with a gross vehicle weight between 750 pounds and 8,000 pounds. Gross vehicle weight (GVW) is defined as the curb (empty) weight plus maximum payload (people and cargo).

  • The customer must agree to abide by the terms and conditions.

  • Participation under this schedule is voluntary and is subject to Alameda Municipal Power’s (AMP’s) sole discretion.

  • This schedule is experimental and will remain in effect until such time that AMP implements a superseding time-of-use or other rate schedule for electric vehicle charging or until canceled by the Public Utilities Board.

  • Discounts will be applied to the charges billed under any of AMP’s applicable residential, commercial, or municipal rate schedules.

  • Discounts per vehicle per month are shown in the table below.

*Alameda Municipal Power will be the final authority in the determination of gross vehicle weight for the purpose of categorizing vehicles for discounts.
Requirements

  • Customers are required to provide proof of registration of the vehicle(s) when applying for service and when requalifying under this schedule. The customer agrees to immediately notify AMP in the event that they are no longer operating the electric vehicle(s), or when, in the case where more than one vehicle is being operated, the number of electric vehicles being operated changes.

  • The customer agrees to charge their electric vehicle(s) during AMP’s off-peak hours (between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, and all hours on Saturday, Sunday, and days observed as non-work holidays by the City of Alameda).

  • A separate electric meter for electric vehicle charging is not required for service under this schedule. However, AMP may request that a separate meter be installed at its expense to monitor electricity use for load research and forecasting.

  • Customers taking service under this schedule may be asked to allow AMP to perform an inspection of facilities or plans for the purpose of making energy efficiency recommendations and/or verifying the installation of electric vehicle charging equipment.

  • Customers may be asked to provide information about the operation of the electric vehicle(s) including, but not limited to, mileage, maintenance, charging preferences, driving impressions, and other information.

  • All customers must re-qualify annually by submitting an application and proof of current registration.

  • The discount for each vehicle will commence no later than the second bill after the application is approved. AMP, at its discretion, may remove the customer from this schedule in the event the customer no longer meets the conditions described herein.

  • Other conditions, as specified in AMP’s Rules and Regulations and as stated in the customer’s primary rate schedule, shall apply to this supplemental electric rate schedule.

Discount Details

Owners of commercially operated electric golf carts & fleet vehicles may be eligible to receive a 50% rate discount for charging their electric vehicles. To receive this discount, electric golf carts and fleet vehicles must be charged on a separately metered account that is solely dedicated to charging the vehicles.

Requirements

  • Discounts for golf carts apply only to commercial golf course operators. The golf carts must be charged at a separately metered facility designed only for recharging electric golf carts. The operator agrees to use only electrically-powered golf carts. In the event any non-electric golf carts are used, the operator may be disqualified from receiving this discount.

  • Fleet electric vehicles must be charged at a separately metered facility designed only for and dedicated solely to the recharging of those vehicles.

  • Customers taking service under this schedule may be asked to allow AMP to perform an inspection of facilities or plans for the purpose of making energy efficiency recommendations and/or verifying the installation of electric vehicle charging equipment.

  • Customers may be asked to provide information about the operation of the electric vehicle(s) including, but not limited to, mileage, maintenance, charging preferences, driving impressions, and other information.

  • AMP, at its discretion, may remove the customer from this schedule in the event the customer no longer meets the conditions described herein.
